This course will highlight the latest advances in dry eye treatment, enhance patient outcomes through comprehensive dry eye management and demonstrate the integration of prescription therapy with in-clinic procedures.

From October 16-22, 2023, 750 adults participated in a custom-designed survey, and were asked to quantify their time in front of screens. Over half of respondents said they spend on average six or more hours a day on digital devices. Nearly seven in 10 respondents reported experiencing symptoms associated with digital eye strain, like eye strain, blurry vision and eye burning. While some options in glasses are available (with many patients not following the traditional behavioral techniques), CooperVision MyDay Energys® daily disposable and Biofinity Energys® monthly replacement contact lenses combine an innovative aspheric lens design and advanced material technology to help with eye tiredness and dryness associated with digital eye strain. In this presentation, you will learn how to identify and help digital strain symptoms through an evidence-based approach.

9:40am - 11:50am - Morning CE Sessions
9:40 AM - 10:40 AM

This course provides a structured, evidence-focused approach to dispel myths in roles of light in ocular development and the underlying factors related to the misinterpretations such as bias and confounding in study designs, lack of validating in quantifying key variables, and inconsistency in treatment. The scientifically supported role of light in myopia management and its clinical implications will be also be discussed.

9:40 AM - 10:40 AM

The course will discuss the importance of skin-eye connections in patient care and common dermatologic conditions with ocular manifestations.

10:50 AM - 11:50 AM

Low-dose atropine (LDA) has emerged as a widely studied intervention for myopia control, supported by substantial evidence from clinical trials. However, translating these findings into real-world patient care presents unique challenges. This course explores the gaps between research and practical application, focusing on factors such as factors influencing intraocular absorption of atropine, dosing variability, tolerability, and long-term efficacy. Attendees will gain insights into interpreting clinical trial results, addressing the barriers to LDA implementation in diverse patient populations, and optimizing outcomes through tailored treatment strategies. By bridging the divide between research and practice, this course aims to empower clinicians to provide evidence-based and patient-centered care for myopia management.

10:50 AM - 11:50 AM

We have been told to prescribe from the chair and to perfect the handoff, yet these "tellers" have left out a vital piece of the puzzle. This void creates a feeling of playing the lottery every time a patient is handed off. This course will give you and your team the control to genuinely influence your patients' decisions.

10:00am - 2:00pm - OPTOFAIR
Sunday, May 4, 2025 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

This session highlights the role of diversity in trauma care, acknowledging unique challenges faced by patients from varied cultural, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Understanding unconscious bias's role and taking steps to adapt practice helps ensure patients feel respected and understood. Understanding the intersectionality of trauma and identity is a helpful strategy for providing compassionate and patient-centred care and fostering an environment where all individuals feel seen and valued.

Trauma-informed practice is an inclusive and sensitive approach to patient care, emphasizing the importance of understanding the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and needs of patients, particularly those who have experienced trauma. This presentation describes how trauma manifests in various forms, including psychological, emotional, and physical, and how these experiences may affect behaviour, communication, and responses to health care. Strategies like active listening, empathetic communication, and safe, nonjudgmental spaces improve patient trust and engagement.

Every step in the patient journey shapes both the quality of care and the long-term success of the clinic. This session explores key touchpoints in the clinic workflow, guiding optometrists - whether practice owners or associates - in recognizing opportunities to elevate service, communication, and processes. Discover how small yet strategic adjustments can enhance patient experience, boost conversions, and fuel sustainable practice growth.

3:35 PM - 5:45 PM
